Oh Amazon, you don’t let any good idea get past you. The site has seen the success of indie video game bundles, like the Humble Indie Bundle, and has decided to jump on the bandwagon. The result is the Indie Combat Pack (and Ticket to Ride), a 10 game pack that gives people a pretty substantial deal for $9.99.
As you can tell from the name, the Indie Combat Pack focuses on games that have some kind of combat element to them. Well, except for Ticket to Ride, which is why it’s marked as an exclusion. People who pick this bundle up get Depth Hunter, Derrick the Deathfin, Dungeon Hearts, Garsharp: Temple of the Dragon, Guns of Icarus Online, Mutant Mudds, SpaceChem, Ticket to Ride, Tower Wars and Toy Soldiers. All of the games are for Windows only. The product keys are provided for Dungeon Hearts, Garsharp, Guns of Icarus Online, SpaceChem, Ticket to Ride, Tower Wars and Toy Soldiers as well, for activation on Steam. I recommend activating the game on Steam as well as downloading it from Amazon, just so you have a backup.
Unlike the other indie bundles, however, the Amazon Indie Combat Bundle does not give any money to charity. So if that’s the reason you buy those bundles, you may want to pass on this one. However, you are getting a pretty substantial deal. Those 10 games would normally cost $95.90, and you’re getting them bundled together for 90% off.
Of the games included, I know a couple are fantastic. Mutant Mudds and Derrick the Deathfin are great solo adventures. Ticket to Ride, meanwhile, is a lot of fun if you know another friend who also has a copy of the game. I’m not sure about the other titles, but I’ve heard a lot of good buzz about Dungeon Hearts and SpaceChem.
