Ready for some Animal Crossing: New Leaf SpotPass explorations? If your 3DS is connected to the internet, you’ll have a special visitor waiting in your plaza. Nintendo will be sending out homes of various people to players’ games, and the first is Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America. Turn on your game, walk to main street, chat with Digby and you’ll be able to see his home and Animal Crossing: New Leaf avatar in your game.
There’s an added bonus to all this. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you can purchase furniture from the homes that appear in this Happy Homes Showcase. This makes Reggie’s home your own, personal catalog. If you see something you like, you just open up the menu and order it. It’ll appear in your mailbox the next day, provided you have the bells to cover the cost. I’m planning on picking up his Sitar, to place in my Japanese room in my mansion.
If you don’t have Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you can still see Reggie’s home. Nintendo has uploaded a video tour of his virtual home to their YouTube channel. You can spend about three and a half minutes watching him guide you through his home. It’s actually pretty funny.
The bedspread with his face on it is pretty weird. As is his catchphrase of, “My body is ready.” That’s his actual phrase he says in the game, if you have your character talk to him in the Happy Homes Showcase plaza.
I’m so glad that Nintendo decided to send out Reggie’s house over SpotPass. A big deal at E3 2013 was getting to visit Nintendo’s booth for a chance of getting Reggie’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf house through StreetPass. The problem was, so many other people with the game were showing up. It was impossible to get Reggie, because you’d get all of the other people instead. This way, no one misses out on getting a neat, new home to explore.
