Fans of 2D fighters, you’re going to have to look deep into your hearts today. We have a chance to have an indie fighter by the name of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm appear in North America. Well, there’s a good chance Yatagarasu could receive a worldwide release anyway, but the three person team, which used to be from SNK and create King of Fighters games, is having trouble getting it finished. So, the developers have teamed with Nyu Media for an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in the hopes we will offer up money to support them and help finish the game.
The Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm campaign is a 2D fighter along the lines of King of Fighters, BlazBlue and Street Fighter. The goal with funding is to help finish the game, expand the storyline, add two characters to the currently 8 character roster, put together an English translation, hire Koori Masao as an in-game announcer, create a Japanese arcade cabinet version with Taito and release the game around the world. The hope is that $68,000 will come in by August 11, 2013, so all this can be accomplished.
Here, see a Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm trailer, so you can see what you would be funding.
I hope you contribute, but don’t fear if you can’t afford to help. The hope is that Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will still get made even if the funding goal isn’t met. It just means it would take much, much longer for the game to appear. I mean, only three people are making it. They can’t do it full time if enough money isn’t pitched in by the people. All it takes is $10 to get development updates and an early copy of the game.
I really would like to see Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm get made, and I’ll probably be pitching in soon. I really dig the art style shown in the trailer!
