cosmic star heroineZeboyd Games is making a new game and I am so excited. It’s called Cosmic Star Heroine and it’s the kind of game my 10 year old self would have desperately wanted to play. Which, of course, means that my now-30 year old self is even more desperately jonesing for a great nostalgia fix. Unfortunately, we’ll all have to wait, because this news story is only just about the Cosmic Star Heroine game announcement, and says nothing about the forthcoming Kickstarter to help get it made and it’s eventual release.

However, we do know quite a bit about Cosmic Star Heroine, thanks to Zeboyd. It stars a spy named Alyssa L’Salle, who is now unemployed. It’s all because she uncovered a conspiracy, which resulted in something of a “burn notice” being put out on her. The government tells everyone who she is. That is the worst thing ever for a spy.

So now, Alyssa has to try and stop the conspiracy, while also dealing with all the people she infiltrated and double-crossed over the years. On top of that, she also gets to create her own spy headquarters. Zeboyd specifically says that last part will be influenced by the Suikoden series, which makes me think lots of character recruiting to make for a more awesome base annd extra party members! All that, and it packs in their reknowned 2D sprite-style and turn-based battles. This is really sounding like a dream come true.

Listen, I know I sound shortsighted, but I really do want to throw money at Zeboyd so they can make Cosmic Star Heroine happen. That may sound silly, but you should want to as well. For starters, Cosmic Star Heroine just sounds like an awesome game. But that isn’t enough to want to help crowdfund it. That’s where Zeboyd’s reputation comes into play. This indie developer is known for making really good, 2D RPGs. They brought us Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII, for starters. Not to mention the wonderful work they’ve done on Penny Arcade on the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 and 4. They know what they’re doing. I have faith in them. So I want to show them that, no matter what, they have this fan’s support.

I’ll let you know when the Cosmic Star Heroine Kickstarter appears down the road. I’ll probably be all happy and super gushy about it as well. Figured it’s best to warn you.
