With Dark just days away from the new, last minute-delay release, Kalypso Media has announced that its stealth action game will have support for the Oculus Rift. So you can really, truly be the vampire. Because you know you dream about that sometimes after watching Dracula, or True Blood, or maybe even Twilight. (We don’t judge!)
For the console gamers, Dark will support 3D TV’s if you own one. It’s not as fancy as the Oculus Rift, but at least it’s something. Any step towards optional immersion is a good thing. Even people like me that don’t have a fancy 3D TV can use those old red and blue lens glasses for stereoscopic 3D. Man, the eye strain those glasses caused after taking them off. Just seeing it in the trailer below brings back memories of the pain endured by my eyes. Go ahead, watch it for yourself and tell me if you get that same vibe.
Since Dark is a 3rd-person perspective game, you may be wondering how the Oculus Rift would fit into all this. As of this post, I’m still waiting on more info. So until then, your guess is as good as ours. From what we can see in the trailer, the Oculus Rift is used for complete control over looking around in the environment. My worry is that in the heat of battle, one can certainly lose focus and fumble to recover before losing the fight.
