Sega’s making another Hatsune Miku game! No, I’m not talking about the US release of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F or Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai 2 for the 3DS. I’m talking about Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2. Yup, Sega is making another one. Which means this will be sixth installment in the series.
Though really, if you want to get technical, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2 is the fourth game. That’s because Project Diva Arcade is a port of the original PSP game, and Project Diva Extend is an expanded version of Project Diva 2nd. On the plus side, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2 will be a completely new game and different from Project Diva F.
Still, sorry to sound so down and cynical. The announcement of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2 really is good news. It’s a fantastic series and every major installment is worth owning. I’m sure the PS3 and Vita versions of this latest game will be worth importing as well. We’ll have to wait on localization news though. Maybe if Project Diva F does well, Sega will bring the sequel over as well. I hope so, as more songs to play along to and costumes to unlock would be lovely.
Here’s a funny tidbit coming out of all the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2 announcements. The project is supposedly 39% along. Do you get it? Let me explain. You can read the numbers “3” and “9” in Japanese as “mi” and “ku”. Put it together, and you’ve got Miku! A release date hasn’t been announced yet though, so it’s difficult to tell if the whole 39% thing is for real, or an attempt by Sega to be cute.
