Today at San Diego Comic-Con, The LEGO Group revealed it is continuing its working relationship with Mojang by releasing two more sets based on the Minecraft license. The Nether (pictured) and The Village sets will be released on September 1 for $34.99. Both sets are measured 3x3x3 and come with new Micromob figures. The Village set will include the Pig, Villager and Zombie Micromob figures. The Nether will have two Ghasts and one Zombie Pigman.
Much like the original Minecraft set, The Village and The Nether can be displayed in one of four ways. They’re designed so you can attach more Minecraft sets if you’d like. For those willing to spend a lot of money, it’s possible to build a nice-sized micro world comprised of numerous sets in different configurations.
LEGO must have seen a lot of success with the first Minecraft set. It was the third LEGO CUUSOO set to be selected for widescale distribution. Demand was so high, LEGO had to restrict the number of Minecraft sets people could buy. Many were resold by individuals at high prices, but that’s not the case anymore. The first Minecraft set can be obtained easily from LEGO’s online store. I’d imagine demand will rise again once the set retires.
