PS4 greatness awaits

The next generation of consoles is so close, I can almost feel launch day anxiety. As we get closer to the big day, Sony decided to shed some more light on many PS4 features (or lack of) that we may not have thought to ask about. Some of the things Sony omitted seems downright silly. Somehow, I don’t think this information is going to stop people from buying in. Let’s go over some facts.

  • PS4 doesn’t support external hard drives, but does allow internal hard drive swapping. The minimum internal hard drive size is 160GB
  • 4K resolution is not supported out the box
  • All retail games must be cached to the hard drive
  • Audio CDs are not supported on the PS4
  • MP3 playback is not supported on the PS4
  • Dynamic themes are not supported
  • Media servers and DLNA are no longer supported
  • Game sharing to YouTube won’t be available at launch
  • HDMI gameplay capture is coming in a future firmware update

Sony also nailed down which games will be available at launch. Here they are:

  • Flower
  • Knack
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Resogun
  • Sound Shapes
  • Angry Birds Star Wars
  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Battlefield 4
  • FIFA 14
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • Just Dance 2014
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition
  • NBA 2K14
  • Madden 25
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Contrast
  • Pinball Arcade
  • DC Universe Online
  • Skylanders Swap Force
  • Contrast
  • Super Motherload
  • Tiny Brains
  • Warframe
