The cavalcade of GamerTell gift guides carries on, with our next installment designed to help those interested in the PS4. A console launch doesn’t happen every day, and with this one coming up right in time for the holiday shopping season, some may be feeling a little frantic. Fortunately, this PS4 gift guide offers an assortment of options when it comes to getting a console, or maybe even console bundle, and a few games.

First, you or the person you’re shopping for will need a PS4. The base system is $399.99. Unfortunately, this PS4 gift guide won’t be too much help in picking up or out a bundle. Most stores are already sold out of pre-orders, so you may have to wait a bit before getting a system. Hopefully not too long, but you never know. A number of retailers, like Amazon, GameStop, and Walmart, had special pre-order bundles, but they’re all sold out now and it’s unclear whether or not more PS4 console and game bundles will be available after the system launches on November 15, 2013.

So, let’s not focus on that with the PS4 gift guide. Let’s center on other things you’ll need. Like a PlayStation Plus membership. You need one if you want to play online with the PS4, but it also guarantees you free games every month. A three month subscription is $17.99, while a year’s subscription is $49.99. Any new PS4 owner would appreciate this.

A PS4 Dualshock 4 controller would be helpful as well. It’s $59.99. Most of the inital launch games are best enjoyed either alone or with online friends, but I’m sure a new owner would appreciate an extra controller for when the local multiplayer games start rolling out.

Of course, no new system is complete without games, so the rest of this PS4 gift guide will focus on what launch games you may want to buy.
