Sorry about that headline up there. I just couldn’t resist the allure of sneaking in a good Portal 2 reference in an incredibly apt situation. See, Gran Turismo 6 is now available and it turns out this installment takes the series to space. Or, should I say spaaaaace!
For the first time in the series, Gran Turismo 6 players can break free from the bonds of Earth and race on a whole new planet. If being realistic is starting to get you down, just take a brief sojourn to the moon and enjoy a whole new view. Once there, you’ll be able to hop into a Lunar Rover and see what you can see in all new moon races. It’s crazy and a little silly, but who cares. Sometimes, you need a little something extraordinary in your life.
You can even see a sample of lunar exploration in the latest Gran Turismo 6 trailer. Most of the almost three minute segment is devoted to showing off the main game and how Polyphony created it, but something special happens at the 2:30 mark.
Yes, it only lasted for a few seconds, but that few second sneak peek of the Lunar Rover was magical, I tell you. It probably changed your life.
Okay, maybe not, but it was a fun bonus. It’s always nice to see a company put in something unexpected for fans to enjoy. It’s like a little surprise to say thank you for buying a game. Maybe it wouldn’t actually convince some people to buy Gran Turismo 6, and that’s probably for the best because it doesn’t seem like the whole Lunar Rover races are a big thing, but it’s a nice bonus for people who were already going to get it.
Gran Turismo 6 is only for the PS3 and will set you back $59.99. I hope you didn’t get rid of your old console, if you decided to upgrade to a new one. It’d be a shame to miss out on racing on the moon in December. I hear it’s lovely this time of year.
