People that purchased the early access version Daedalic Entertainment’s Blackguards on Steam have something to do. The Dark Eye universe RPG has a new installment. The fourth chapter is online and needs some enjoying. For those of you who don’t know what Blackguards is, it’s a turn-based RPG with a rich story and luscious 3D environments fitting this dark tale of second-guessing one’s self in the midst of treachery.

Let’s check out that Blackguards trailer.

Since the start of early access on Steam, players have been able to playing each chapter as it was ready for consumption. With five chapters in all for Blackguards, and a release date scheduled for January 24, 2014, players should see the final chapter just before the official launch.

Getting in early would be wise if you are interested at all. You could just pay the $24.99 to get access now to all the chapters currently available and know that you will pay cheaper than the $39.99 asking price when released. The better option for your money, though, is to go for the $49.99 Contributor Edition if you’re into digital collectibles. A 150 page art book, developer interview videos, six exclusive wallpapers, your name in the credits, the first Blackguards DLC and a copy of the point & click adventure game, Chains of Satinav for free. $10 extra for all this content seems worth it to me.
