This Monday’s Raw went “Old School” featuring classic grapplers such as “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Sgt. Slaughter. So it’s only fitting that this week’s addition to WWE 2K14 has Hall of Fame credentials.
The Legends and Creations DLC Pack features “Ravishing” Rick Rude, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Bruno Sammartino and Jake “The Snake” Roberts. The pack is $9, but Ted DiBiase’s valet Virgil is absolutely free. Diehard WWE fans will remember that Virgil is a former Million Dollar Champion and member of the New World Order.
Bruno Sammartino is the most notable of this esteemed group. He held the WWF World Championship for nearly eight years, the longest reign in the promotion’s history. He had a strained relationship with WWE for years after his retirement. He didn’t approve of lurid storylines or the drug and steroid abuse he said was running rampant.
In 2013, after years of declining induction, Sammartino agreed to enter the WWE Hall of Fame. These mended fences paved the way for his inclusion in WWE 2K14. In case you can’t tell, I’m really excited about that. I love a lot of the current guys, but Bruno is going to be making some youngsters tap out this weekend. Bring it, John Cena.
The Creations part of this DLC is 14 new heads for use in creating your own wrestling superstar. “The Wiry Journalist” Brian Allen is coming for you online, so be ready. Nobody gets up from my trademark finisher, the Dangling Participle. Season Pass owners get this for free, it’s $9 for everyone else. This is the last DLC for the game.
The roster alone makes WWE 2K14 worth the purchase for longtime fans. This game allows players to relive some of the greatest moments in wrestling history. Hulk Hogan can slam Andre The Giant again, Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat can steal the show and HBK will again superkick Flair into retirement.
