Rymdkapsel was an incredible surprise. The mobile simulation offered a simplistic, avant-garde presentation. You would know you were managing and building a space station, attempting to fend off alien attacks while also helping your crew research monoliths, but it was all just so abstract. Abstract, but also wonderful. It sold over 200,000 copies on mobile devices, and now it’s coming to conquer PCs.
Grapefrukt has announced a PC incarnation of the simulation game, and you’ll want to double dip. Or, if you haven’t experienced it at all, this will be the time to jump on in. That’s because this version of Rymdkapsel is bigger and better than ever. When it comes to Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs on January 30, 2014, it will provide even more incentive to keep playing. Aside from new monoliths, with new abilities, and more missions a player to accomplish, there will also be two entirely new modes of play. It’s coming to Steam, so that means achievements as well. I’m actually even hoping for trading cards, too.
Here’s a Rymdkapsel announcement trailer, to make everything official.
For those of you who haven’t played or tried Rymdkapsel, I implore you to give it a chance. I was once like you. I thought the game looked “weird” and felt I wouldn’t be able to get into it. I received a free copy of my Vita via PlayStation Mobile, but didn’t give it a chance. Then, I got it in one of the Android Humble Bundle and, since I had a new Nexus 7 with few games on it, gave it a chance. It blew my mind. It’s an incredible game, you should all be excited about the PC release and, when it finally arrives, we all need to play it again together.
There’s no price set for the PC version of Rymdkapsel yet. It’s $3.99 on Google Play and iTunes.
