The Amnesia Fortnight 2014 Double Fine game jam is on! People can contribute cash, which goes to Child’s Play, Double Fine, and/or the Humble folks, and then get to help influence the fate of gaming. The developer has given the people 29 general ideas and 4 Pendleton Ward pitches to choose from, and anyone who kicks in at least a $1 can help decide which game prototypes get made.
Which brings us to the hard part. While there are only four Pendleton Ward projects to choose from, there are 29 Amnesia Fortnight 2014 general game concepts available, and it’s safe to say at least 20 of them could transform into extraordinary final projects. The problem is, only 10% of these ideas will make it to the prototype level, and who knows if any of those prototypes will inspire a finished game?
We have tough decisions ahead of us. Which is why I’d like to suggest 6 Amnesia Fortnight 2014 games that really deserve your approval this game jam. I know, you can only vote for 3, but watch these videos. Look at these pitches. These 6 games could be magic, and you should really consider voting for them.
Oh leader, glorious leader, all hail to you. Yes, you. You’re the despotic ruler of a nation after a revolution. Guide your new country, with your immense intelligence and wisdom. But take care. It’s a crazy world out there, and who knows which syncophants and citizens you can trust.
Dum Sim is a Dim Sim restaurant simulation that is apparently going to play like someone mashed WarioWare, Cooking Mama, and all of the Kairosoft simulation games together. You cook your food, serve it, and read “Belch” reviews to see where you need improvement. In short, it could be a simulation gamer’s dream. My only concern is, it also sounds pretty simular to the already available Cook, Serve, Delicious!.
We love cats. They’re fluffy, snuggly, and adorable. But what happens when you get inside the mind of an indoor cat that’s outdoors for the first time? You get Gone Astray. Follow a cat exploring the wild world, and see how he (or she) handles this grand new adventure.
Humans: A Study Guide
If you like Persona and Princess Maker, vote for Humans: A Study Guide. Players are an alien in school, learning about humans. To help prepare for finals, he has to help raise and guide a human through life to learn more about our wonderful race. Fun times ensue.
Double Fine shines when it comes to comedic games with personality, and that’s Steed. Players would help a horse keep heroes alive and get them to save the day. Of course, that isn’t all that’s going on. Something darker is happening in the kingdom, and this horse and his stable boy friend could be the heroes this land deserves.
Part Tamagotchi, part Princess Maker, and part Tim Schafer, Timagotchi is the one Amnesia Fortnight 2014 game that has to get made. In it, you help guide a little Tim and make him the best man he can be.
Buy in now and vote. The first 10 finalists will be chosen on February 10, 2014. Let’s make sure at least one of these 6 games is among them!
