There’s another Skylanders game coming. (There’s always another Skylanders game coming.) Which means there’s another Frito-Lay/Activision/Skylanders promotion in effect. One year, it was a mail-in offer to get those cute little Sidekicks figures that were mini-versions of some of the coolest characters in the game. Last year, it was a glow-in-the-dark Rattle Shake figure. And now, this year, it’s a pick-and-name Skylanders contest.
It’s a very simple affair, and you don’t even have to buy any Frito-Lay products to take part. All you do is visit the Skylanders contest’s official website. Once there, you offer all your pertinent information to create an account and vote on a Skylander. Three types are available, and they’re pictured above. One is a dragonfly dragon, another is queen of the bats, and the final one is a dolphin warrior. You pick which one you like, give it a name, and then provide a short backstory.
In May 2014, Frito-Lay will pick one name for each character, and then allow fans to vote on which of the three characters should be a part of the next Skylanders game. The person who named the winning character will get a $100,000 scholarship in return, and that Skylander will be an official figure.
And, before you even ask, yes. I admit it. I went, voted for the dolphin, and named him Snorky. It was the only option. I mean it. I know it will robbaly never happen, and Snorky the Dolphin won’t win this Skylanders contest, but maybe it will give whoever’s going through all those names a chuckle.
