xbox_live_weekly_update_image1311With a holiday weekend upon us, the pickings are a bit slimmer than normal. This is a quality over quantity situation though, as the excellent Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition is available. Even better for Xbox One owners, it’s completely free through Games with Gold. What the heck is a a Guacamelee, you might ask? It’s one of the best reviewed Metroidvania style games in years, inspired by Mexican folklore.

On Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Carlos Calaca and his army of skeletons start attacking the world of the living. They kidnap El Presidente’s daughter, and her friend Juan gets killed trying to save her. But in the land of the dead, he finds a mysterious luchador mask with the power to send him back. Calaca has no idea what he started, but you do and you’re going to finish it.

The Xbox 360 version isn’t free, and will run you $14.99. But if you think you’ll be getting an Xbox One soon, you can still purchase the game from the marketplace and download it after you have the console. Xbox 360 owners get Gotham City Impostors, a shooter set in the world of Gotham without the actual Batman or Joker. There are a bunch of people inspired by them however, and they’re intent on shooting each other. This one is free until July 15, when Battleblock Theater replaces it.

Sniper Elite IIIis available through Games on Demand for both the 360 and Xbox One.  The setting is North Africa, 1942. The Nazis are about to unleash a secret weapon that will turn the tide of the war. To stop them, you’ll need to move in stealth and strike with precision. You got what it takes to change the outcome of the war with a well-placed bullet? It’s $49.99 for the Xbox One and $39.99 on the 360.
