Ready for a one-two punch of good news? Brace yourself, because this is going to be good. Atlus released two awesome Persona 4 Arena Ultimax tidbits, and they’re sure to make you smile. The first is that Atlus will will be at EVO 2014 July 11-13, 2014 with the game. The second, bigger news is that there will be no region-lock!
Since the region-lock thing is probably the most important of the two announcements, we’ll start there. Atlus took a lot of flack when it came to Persona 4 Arena, because the game was region-locked. That means you had to buy a copy from the same region as your system to play it. So if you had a Japanese PS3, you’d need the Japanese copy of the game. It was a big to-do. Feelings were hurt. But they won’t be with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, because there’s no region-lock this time around.
In comparison, the EVO 2014 news is less exciting, but only slightly so. Both Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be at the event. The newer title is there for demos, but the original Persona 4 Arena is there for a side tournament with a $1,000 prize. People must register for it before 3pm on July 11, 2014, and the tourney will then start at 4pm. The best player gets the cash, and supposedly there will be other, Atlus-related prizes as well.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax doesn’t have a set release date yet, but we should see it soon. It has a Fall 2014 release window, after all. Pre-order it, if you want to be sure you get a first-run edition that includes Adachi DLC, a Teddie punching bag, and a set of Tarot cards.
