I think I’m going crazy. Is it just me, or does that Tetsuya Nomura Batman look a lot like Bahamut. You know, that legendary dragon that keeps showing up in Final Fantasy games as either a summon or an enemy. I mean, let’s look at this for a second. This is an image of the Tetsuya Nomura Batman that will be on display at the 2014 San-Diego Comic Con and eventually sold at the Square Enix Shop.
Now, to compare, here’s the Final Fantasy Variant Play Arts Kai Bahamut figure.
The resemblance is uncanny. They could be brothers!
Need more proof? Okay. This is a screenshot from Final Fantasy Type-0.
It may not be like looking in a mirror, but clearly there are some of the same design elements at play. It genuinely looks like Tetsuya Nomura decided to take inspiration from one of the most famous monsters in the Final Fantasy series when it came time to design his very own Batman. You all see it too, right? I’m not the only one. I can’t be.
Though, worse come to worse, I guess the Nomura Batman design could even be a nod to Final Fantasy‘s Diabolos.
It’s not as close of a match, but there are some commonalities, as well as a similar color scheme.
I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Who cares if the Nomura Batman looks a lot like Bahamut. Let’s just be glad he looks awesome. Because with Nomura’s doing the designs, there was probably even a chance of Batman looking like this.
