The wait for Jurassic World is pretty hard to bear. Especially with all of those new trailers appearing. Seems like it may be a good idea to play something while you wait. You know, get yourself all hyped up while waiting for the movie, or maybe even the LEGO Jurassic Park game. Fortunately, there’s a plethora of games inspired by the series out there to enjoy while you wait.
Jurassic Park (Genesis)
Let’s be honest with ourselves. There were a lot of Genesis era games that were needlessly difficult. Jurassic Park fell under that banner, but it had something that made it worthwhile. Namely, the ability to play as either Doctor Grant or a raptor. You can’t beat that.
Jurassic Park (Sega CD)
The Sega CD version of Jurassic Park was rather unique, as it was a point-and-click adventure that involved collecting dinosaur eggs and hatching them before time runs out. You get 12 real-time hours to get 12 eggs and hatch them so you can rebuild. Because after everything goes awry and dinosaurs revolt, of course you immediately want to start over again.
Jurassic Park: The Game (PS3, Xbox 360, Windows, Mac, iOS)
Telltale’s Jurassic Park: The Game can act as a nice refresher prior to Jurassic World. It goes through the events of the first game, allowing you to relive a version of events. Though, like all TellTale games, the choices don’t always matter. There are only two possible endings. Still, it’s fairly well done and offers a decent dinosaur fix.
Keep in mind that these are only three Jurassic Park games to play while you wait for Jurassic World. A number have been released over the years, of varying quality. Jurassic Park III: Park Builder is always an option, if you have a GBA lying around, and Jurassic World: The Game could be something to play on your iOS or Android device, if you can stomach free-to-play games.
