Microsoft has announced this week’s new releases on Xbox Live Arcade and, rather than going retro, we’ll have two fresh new titles available for download this Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 2 a.m. (Pacific time). Futuristic hover board racer Street Trace: NYC will be available for 800 Microsoft points ($10) and trippy shooter Space Giraffe is apparently set to go for 400 points ($5).
Street Trace: NYC is sort of like DC hover board racer Trickstyle meets Wipeout. The game features six areas to race around (all based in New York City, hence the title), seven game types, and plenty of weapons to pick up and bash opponents with.
Space Giraffe is a Tempest-esque shooter made by Jeff Minter (conveniently enough, creator of Tempest 2000). Gamers who cough up the 5 bucks are in for 100 spazzy levels of day-glow goodness, and a mystery mode that unlocks upon beating every stage. Both titles are expected to feature leaderboards and achievements.
