If you weren’t already confused by Nokia’s repruposing of the N-Gage name, get this. Nokia has also announced that it is launching a new web service, Ovi, that combines both the N-Gage service and the Nokia Music Store.

For now the home page has one of those long Flash videos that tries to make the site look cool in lieu of anything useful. Once through the annoy-imation, the links are active, though most of the pages are barebones PR info that makes it sound like Nokia wants in on the social networking game as well.

There’s a Photos link, Maps, Music (which is already a live UK site) and a Games link that goes to the existing, yet redesigned, N-Gage site. You can also register to get updates.

It appears the Ovi name and domain is primarily a gateway for other Nokia sites and appears that Nokia plans to add some social networking features to the site – let me guess, a place to post your images, videos and audio clips to share with others? – when it really launches in English in Q4 2007 (and in other languages first half of 2008).

So what do you think – is it pronounced “Oh-VEE” or “Oh-VIE?”
