In honor of the classic RTS title’s 12th anniversary, EA is offering a free download of Command & Conquer (Gold Edition) on the official website. Gamers can check out all the modern warfare glory along with the extensive instruction manual and some surprise goodies are on the way. The PC game is available for download now and is XP compatible.
1995 was a banner year for videogames, what with C&C practically defining the RTS genre on PC’s and the release of the then two new consoles (the Playstation and Saturn). And what better way to celebrate than with free games? Actually, it’s becoming something of a trend lately, what with the new Quake Zero coming out for free, and Ubisoft offering Rayman Raving Rabbids, Far Cry, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for zilch. That’s not even counting all the free titles available on Gametap these days. It’s a great time to be a cheap gamer.
