Four new songs were revealed for Rock Band today: The Pixie’s “Wave of Mutilation”, Garbage’s “I Think I’m Paranoid”, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Maps”, and Hole’s “Celebrity Skin”. The tracks will be part of the 40 shipped on the disc when the guitar/bass/drums/vocals rock simulator ships this November.
Not shipping on the disc, but still available as DLC will be 18 Grateful Dead songs – all of them master recordings. Songs will include “Truckin’,” “Uncle John’s Band,” “Touch of Grey,” “Sugar Magnolia,” and “Casey Jones.” Combined with the 40-plus tracklist and all the other DLC (which includes Nirvana’s Nevermind and The Who’s Who’s Next albums), the potential is positively mind-boggling. Looks like the MTV partnership is really paying off for Harmonix and EA. Guitar Hero 3 is going to need more than just cool bosses to rise up to this kind of competition.
Rock Band is destined to hit the Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2 on November 20, 2007. Still no definitive word on the rumored Wii version, but at this point, I would advise against holding your breath (at least for a day one release).
