Earlier this week, there was a huge hubbub over comments made by RedOctane’s president, Kai Huang. that indicated the Wii version of Guitar Hero III would not support online play. However, it’s been confirmed that there will be online support out of the box.
When Huang said, “There won’t be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in,” he was talking about all those nifty extras like downloadable songs that Xbox 360 and PS owners will be able to get in on. The statement was misinterpreted as being about downloadable content and not competitive or co-op online play.
With no word on the rumored Wii version of Rock Band, GH III will be the only game in town for music lovers on Nintendo’s little white box, so fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
GH III will be coming out on the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and Wii in October 2007.
