SNK Playmore, the company that brought us the Neo Geo, brings us Neo Geo games on the Wii Virtual Console. Standing alongside Nintendo’s home consoles and Hudson’s TurboGrafx-16, the Neo Geo will open up a whole new roster of classics to gobble up our Wii points.
Actually, we already knew the Neo Geo was coming to Virtual Console in Japan. In fact, three titles were supposed to be online overseas yesterday, September 11, 2007, but haven’t actually been released yet. Those titles were World Heroes, Magician Lord, and Fatal Fury.
We in the US will be starting out with World Heroes, Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting with “more titles will follow over the coming months,” according to SNK’s press release. What the press release does not say is when the titles will start coming, only that D4Enterprise, Inc., will be handling the releases.
Cosmetic changes in the recent Wii update added enough space for more Virtual Console categories. They were probably making way for the Neo Geo. The games will cost 900 Wii Points each.
