The Ultimate Mortal Kombat box

Midway Games has just shipped the first Mortal Kombat game for the Nintendo DS to stores (November 12, 2007) Ultimate Mortal Kombat is, of course, rated Mature and sells for $29.95.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat isn’t just any port of the classic fighting game. It supports single-card local wireless multiplayer and a Nintendo WiFi Connection multiplayer mode. Both Mortal Kombat 3 and Puzzle Kombat are included in the game, and both can be played over both kinds of WiFi. Ultimate Mortal Kombat also keeps records of your wins and losses, so you can show others just how amazing you really are (like you needed proof in the first place).

Just what we need in time for the holiday season. Senseless brutality. This is a good thing. Think of how many family squabbles this game could help resolve. In fact, this could even prevent altercations! Mad that Aunt Tilly bought you footie pajamas, even though you’re 23? Don’t worry, because you don’t need to suppress that rage until your spleen bursts or you develop a costly ulcer. Your Dad was thoughtful enough to buy you Ultimate Mortal Kombat, so instead you can channel your rage into a productive activity. Midway isn’t selling a game, they’re selling ‘Blissful Family Harmony’ – the Mortal Kombat way. Their slogan? “Better you commit a fatality on Scorpion than your second cousin Stephen.”
