Sega has recently announced that the classic zombie shooting games The House of the Dead 2 and The House of the Dead 3 will be resurrected as The House of the Dead 2&3 Return for the Nintendo Wii. This will be the third first-person-shooter involving zombies for the system, the first two being Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.
A tentative release date of March 31, 2008, has been announced for the new game and, while a it hasn’t officially been announced, we assume this game will get a Mature rating.
The House of the Dead 2&3 Return will include both versions of the game, multiple game modes and work with the new Wii Zapper. Sega has mentioned that there will be six game modes included, including Co-Op Multiplayer Mode, Single Player Campaign, Arcade Mode and Time Attack Mode. All of this, combined with the fact that players are really getting two games, will definitely extend the life of this shooter.
Now if they would just rerelease Typing of the Dead, life would be complete. The House of the Dead 2 and The House of the Dead 3 are great and all, but there was just something so satisfying about killing a zombie with the word ‘cat.’
