Seinfeld, the TV series, has inspired a trivia board game with additional interactive DVD. The game, released at the same time as Seinfeld‘s ninth season and the ultimate Seinfeld television series collection, is supposed to give die-hard fans a chance to show off their knowledge of the series.
The site proclaims that the game is now available at the sale price of $24.95, but does not give the normal retail price. It is only available at the In Pursuit of Nothing site.
The game has players playing at a foldout Monk’s Coffee Shop booth, and the players are supposedly the Seinfeld characters just after lunch. Apparently George is cheap and broke, because he’s not paying his share for the meal. Everyone else has to kick in money to pay. Everyone starts with $2 in, but by answering questions, they attempt to be the one with the least amount of money chipped in. The person who manages to end without contributing to George’s portion of the bill wins.
The Flash demo is dismal at best. If that is representative of what the actual DVD portion of the board game is like, then this is a pitiful trivia game. There are only six questions to sample, and none of them are even challenging. Instead of spending $25 on this game as a gift for someone, spend the money on an actual Seinfeld DVD set for them instead. They’ll thank you for it.

UPDATE: It appears the In Pursuit of Nothing web site is down for good (“This site has been shut down indefinitely. Sorry for any inconvenience.”), which indicates this game is no longer available (unless you are lucky enough to find it on eBay). Amazon also has it listed as “Currently unavailable.” If we find another source we will post it here. (June 3, 2008)

I created and distributed In Pursuit Of Nothing. In January 2008, Castle Rock Entertainment's attorneys sent me a "cease and desist" letter claiming the game infringes its Seinfeld copyrights.
I do not believe the game infringes any copyright. However, I do not have the time to litigate this matter at this time. I agreed to stop selling the game and give Castle Rock 10 days written notice before I start selling it again. Once I give the notice, I am certain I will get another threat from Castle Rock. Therefore, I am not going to start selling the game again until I am ready to litigate this matter.
Ah, I understand now. Thanks for clarifying everything for us Trevor.
Oy Vey! What kind of Joozers are lining up to buy this garbage?
Islamophobes rejoice! The reality is that most normal Americans never could relate to the lives of Manhatten Jewsters, and no, the show is not funny. Worse than SNL, but not worse than Friends.
Someone emailed me looking for this game but, as you can see from my update (above), the In Pursuit of Nothing site is down and the game is no longer available.
If you do find a site selling it, please post it here.
Trevor – Many thanks for the information! Do let us know when this (or any of your other games) becomes available.
