Duke Nukem Forever, the title first announced in 1997 and long thought to be vaporware, has just gotten a new trailer. Developer 3d realms released the new teaser today, December 19, 2007, featuring an iron-pumping Duke, nasty-looking aliens, and some cheesy hardcore music – it looks like Duke is back. It ends with a jingoistic American flag and an enigmatic “Stay tuned” message, then the 3d realms url.
1up is speculating that 3d realms is getting ready to show the game properly, and this little video is a snapshot of what to expect. Since all anyone’s seen or heard of the game until now were trailers in 1998 and 2001, ugly rumors and a few vague screenshots, this is a major breakthrough. But one issue remains – does anyone still care about this franchise? After all, it has been several years since the last non-mobile release.
Tentatively, the game is due to hit the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC sometime in 2008.
