Sony’s PS3 is gradually earning respectability, but it still has some stark shortcomings. One of the problems is the lack of quality games and the other is the Playstation Network, which has a long way to go to provide gamers with an online experience that rivals Xbox Live’s. While Sony can’t bring many quality games in a short while, it can certainly improve the PSN experience. The company will attempt to rectify the situation by launching PSN cards in the U.S in early 2008.
A PSN card allows gamers to buy downloadable content on PSN, worth the monetary value of the particular card. This liberates gamers from using their credit card to make the purchases. Such cards were rolled out in Japan along with the launch of Grand Turismo 5: Prologue, and have been well-received.
As we know, Xbox Live users have a very similar option available to them whereby they can buy Microsoft points offline, which can be used to make purchases on Xbox Live Arcade and Live Marketplace. U.S PSN users should welcome this move.
