Engine SoftwareThe Wii might be the best console in the market but it trails the other consoles in overall online experience. The WiiWare online game downloading service is expected to turn a corner and enhance the online component of the Wii experience. The service has engendered a lot of buzz since Nintendo first unveiled its WiiWare plans.

This excitement increased when news of developer Engine Software’s WiiWare title, Project Bang, was announced. The game’s release was announced for March 2008, which led to speculation that WiiWare might release in North America and Europe during that time. In actuality, only the Japanese release dates had been announced.

Nintendo had previously announced that the first WiiWare games will appear in March 2008, though the launch plans for Europe and North America haven’t been divulged. It is such a huge launch for Nintendo and so it is understandably irked by Engine Software’s announcement missing the vital words “in Japan,” fueling the speculations. A Nintendo rep dismissed the US/Europe release rumor in a statement to TechNewsWorld.

Engine Software has clarified, putting it all down to a case of misinterpretation. It has apologetically conveyed that it failed to explicitly state in the announcement that WiiWare is scheduled to release in March 2008 in Japan only. As it didn’t specifically mention Japan, most people thought that the game downloading service would launch in other territories also.
