According to the Playstation blog, colorful rhythm-action game Patapon will be released on the PSP for the budget price of $19.99 this February. The post hints at Sony’s desire to see the game shine (and not “get lost” among other big PSP titles) as the primary reason for the price point, and points out (of course) that most of the press the game has received thus far has been quite enthusiastic.
The title combines rhythm with strategy elements and a unique, colorful aesthetic. Another selling point: it’s from the creators of LocoRoco, another innovative PSP title.
Here’s hoping the price makes it attractive to gamers who might not normally pick up a quirky title. Patapon looks quite good, so I’d hate to see it become like Crush – another PSP title that was innovative and critically acclaimed, yet sold poorly.
