A new page on the official Nintendo Pokemon website reveals that one of the rarest pokemon, Darkrai, will be getting a North American debut. As Pokemon Diamond and Pearl players know, Darkrai is only available at special, official Nintendo events. At these events, players can download a special item to their DS units. They then go to any pokecenter in the game to receive the Member’s Card item. This card allows players to enter the locked Canalave Inn and battle Darkrai.
A date for the Darkrai event has not been set. In fact, very little information is given about the event, other than to imply it is coming soon. A Darkrai event was already held in Japan at the debut of the July 10, 2007 release of the tenth Pokemon movie, Gekijouban Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai. The Darkrai from that movie event knew the moves Roar of Time and Spacial Rend. The same movie is scheduled to be released in the U.S. March 2008 as The Rise of Darkrai.
Of course players who happen to own an Action Replay DS may already own this elusive pokemon thanks to a helpful code which triggers the event prematurely. If the official NA Darkrai contains special moves like the Japanese one, then it will easy to determine who owns a legitimate pokemon and who hacked the game.
Update: Gamertell has updated the Darkrai story. The pokemon will be given away at Toys”R”Us stores in North America and May 31 and June 1, 2008.

I hope they have a Shaymin event soon too. I know it's the wussiest legendary in existance, but it's too darn cute.
It is nice. Hopefully it will be held fairly soon. Shaymin would be nice as well, and its only logical that if they'll release one, they'll release the other.
Personally I used an AR to get the items for both characters. XD I was too lazy and couldn't wait for an event. (I also used it to get a Manaphy since I didn't want to get and play Pokemon Ranger.)
Shaymin really isn't very wussy at all. It is a pretty decent pokemon. Teeny tiny and adorable, but it does have some good moves.

You do all realize that the instant the event Darkrai comes out some person is going to use a program like Pokésav along with an Action Replay to hack up a million of these things right? There won't be any way to figure out what's legit then. I just thought it was kind of silly when the article stated that it would be easy to distinguish fakes from the real deal… Fakes are easily made and with Pokésav, can be made to look completely legit.
That's true Anonymous. I guess its all up to the owner if they want to go to an event to get a legit darkrai or just find one through the gts.

It should be at various locations around the USA once the event is held. Once dates have been announced, the official site will post them.

When you attend the event, there will likely be instructions or someone there to assist you.
I read in Nintendo Power that the Darkrai event is going to be at Toys "R" Us on May 31st and June 1st. I haven't been able to find anything online to confirm this, but if it's in Nintendo Power, I think I'll trust it.

Still no list of exactly which stores are participating, but I'm hoping that since I live in Orlando it won't be a big deal. What I'm wondering is whether the PokeDex in question is the regular Sinnoh one or the National Dex. I just started playing recently and haven't obtained the National Dex yet (working on 7th gym badge), so I'm wondering if I should start power-gaming to beat teh Elite 4 by Saturday.

I went on May 31,2008 to get Darkrai. Darkrai is so nice!!!!!! Good thing if you got it because it was worth it. Even though I love Fire pokemon, Darkrai is just as cool. It is NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
If you have National Dex, Darkrai will show up in your National Dex.
If you haven't obtained the National Dex yet, it doesn't show up in your Sinnoh Dex.

Yah. Well people who use Action replay are dumb. They are to lazy. Cheating stinks.
Or Fire Pokemon Master, they're adults or people who don't have the time to attend a special event. I work a day job and write for Gamertell in my free time. I also have other responsibilities.
As such, an Action Replay DS is helpful to unlock things that I don't have time to attend. It also can prove helpful when playing import video games.
At. a cost. Cant Action replay mess up your game or even delete your save file? And come on. how many adults actually play. Im not saying they dont but the numbers are little. I'm being practical. I havent cheated once. And i pledge to never, even given the chance to get arceus. It's just who i am.
@ Fire Pokemon Master: I have never had my AR device screw up any of my games that I've used it on. Same for my PS2 codebreaker and my old NES Gameshark.
As for adults playing – I'm 25. When I was in college and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl first came out, most of the people I knew who had a DS bought it. There is also an adult Pokemon fan group with over 100 members on livejournal, There's also an adult Pokemon Yahoo group with over 280 members. I found that in only 5 minutes. Imagine how many examples of mature Pokemon players I could find if I had, say, an hour to look. I think there are more adults playing Pokemon than you think.
And don't forget about the Pokemon 151 clothing brand – I doubt many children or teenagers could afford the $40+ T-shirts and such found here: http://www.pokemon151.jp (One of my best guy friends seriously wants a Cubone 104 shirt from there – he's 24. I, on the other hand, like the 150 Mewtwo or the 014 kakuna).
If that's your moral code, then good for you. I just know I'd be disappointed if I hadn't been able to get Manaphy, Darkrai, Cressalia, Shaymin and Arceus.

@ Fire Pokemon Master: If someone uses the AR to hack a pokemon (like make a Mudkip with fire blast, 999 stats and such), then it could mess up the game. But I don't know many people who go to those lengths with an AR.
Are all Toys 'r Us stores participating, or is it just selected stores, and if so, is a list of stores released yet? I live in the middle of nowhere, but I really want a Darkrai!
Jenni is right; Darkrai isn't in the National Dex. It ends with Cresselia, which is a legit Pokemon in the game. I would assume it adds the Darkrai entry to the Dex when you download it, and the same will probably happen for Shaymin and the like. However, although Darkrai is definitely NOT in the regular Pokedex, if they're offering the Inn Key or whatever it's called it's perfectly plausible for you to hold onto it until you can use it.
Whatever the case, I'm sure Darkrai will be available to those who haven't beaten the Elite Four yet.
So i can get Arceus or Shaymin with AR and have a % chance of getting hacked?
Also, when you delete Roar of time or Spacial Rend from Darkrai's attacks, can you get them back? i cant.
@ Fire Pokemon Master: Well, I used an AR for all the special pokemon. The key is to AR to get the event items, and not the pokemon. That way the pokemon themselves won't be hacked, as you'll have legitimately caught them in battle. If you just hacked the game to make say… the last pokemon in your lineup change to Shaymin or Arceus, then that could affect your game.
Nope, I don't think you can relearn them. Maybe if you check the move tutor, you could though.
