gearbox software Gearbox Software, the Texas-based developer famed for the Brother’s in Arms series, the original Halo for the PC and the expansion packs that followed the first Half Life, has announced on its forum that it is working on something huge. Really huge.

In a brief interview with Kotaku, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said,

“I’ve started a new project. It’s big. It’s, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big. I’m directing it myself. I can’t mention it publicly yet. When you find out what this is, you’ll likely agree that I can’t oversell this one.”

Apparently it is so huge that it’s beyond any real explanation.

In anticipation of this yet-to-be-named title, Gearbox is beefing up its staff and requesting applicants from all fields to submit resumes and samples for the project. Clearly excited about the project, Pitchford commented further by saying, “[E]veryone will notice and play” the secret game, the “best concept artists in the world” will work on the title, and that the opportunity to work on Gearbox’s megaton mystery game is “as good as it gets.”

As of yet, little actual information of Gearbox’s big secret has been released including the platforms or even the game’s genre.

Other than the nameless project(s?), Gearbox is currently working on Brother in Arms: Hell’s Highway, the upcoming science fiction action RPG Borderlands and a first-person shooter based on the Aliens films.
