Dante’s legion of anxiously awaiting fans will soon be rewarded, as Devil May Cry 4 should now be available in all major retailers. The latest entry in the series is available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in both regular and collector’s editions. The regular edition just comes with the game and costs $59.99. The deluxe collector’s edition costs a bit more, at $79.99, but includes a metal case, four episodes of Devil May Cry: The Animated Series and a bonus DVD with music, art and a featurette showing how Devil May Cry 4 was made. The title is rated M for strong language and violence.
Nero is the new star of Devil May Cry 4, and the game begins with him and Dante feuding. Unlike Dante, Nero also possesses a Devil Bringer arm which allows for new attacks. Dante will also be available as a playable character further into the game. Other returning characters include Trish and Lady.
Normally I’d be all for advocating the purchase of the deluxe edition of any game, but not here. The Devil May Cry anime really isn’t any good. The animation looks pretty, but the story just doesn’t match up. A better premium may have been a copy of the first volume of the Devil May Cry manga from Tokyopop.
