Yesterday (February 6, 2008), scans from the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu were leaked by Korean game site Ruliweb, revealing that E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Chun-Li, Zangief and Dhalsim will return in Street Fighter IV. Along with Ryu and Ken, who’ve already been confirmed for the game, they made up the eight-character roster of the original 1991 version of Street Fighter II.
The Street Fighter Blog also reported yesterday that Capcom will reveal another new addition(s?) to its Street Fighter IV cast this Friday (February 8, 2008). Whether these are the characters already mentioned in Famitsu or more newcomers remains to be seen though.
In addition to the classic SFII fighters, secret character-cum-shotokan bad-ass Akuma returns, according to the Official XBox Magazine in the UK along with newcomer Crimson Viper, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Vanessa, from Street Fighter‘s rival series, King of Fighters.
All of this comes a week before this year’s AOU Arcade Show hits Japan on February 15, 2008. According to the Street Fighter Blog, SFIV will be playable.
In the meantime, take a look at the Famitsu scans to see how all the old fighters will look with the new graphics engine. They also showcase the first in-game shots of Crimson Viper.
