According to 1up, last week’s surprise announcement of a Junovideogame has turned out to be a bust. Apparently, IP migration specialist Keith Boesky’s D.I.C.E. speech was misinterpreted, as he was merely comparing the film (as a low-budget indie flick) to indie games that have broken out and found success in the market, not actually confirming that a game based on the film was in development.
Odd. Either original reporter Gamespot misquoted Boesky, or this is just a reaction to the extreme negativity the idea met with upon the “announcement”. Gamers were up in arms over how terrible a game based on a talky teen pregnancy movie would certainly turn out. I wasn’t so sure (I’m always in favor of wacky new ideas, this industry can always use a little shaking up), but I suppose we’ll never know now.
