According to a recent post at 1up, atmospheric underwater FPS Bioshock will be receiving a mobile adaptation. Very few details are available regarding the new game, save for its publisher IG Fun. No release date or proposed genre/approach have been named at this time.
One thing is certain – there’s no way the game will be a straight port. Bioshock was one of the most technologically impressive titles of last year, so you’d need a mobile device from 2012 to play anything like it. A few people in the gaming blogosphere are hoping for a point and click adventure title, which could make decent use of limited graphical capabilities while still remaining true to the story-driven nature of the property. I’m just hoping they don’t try to make a collection of the Pipe Dream-esque hacking minigame, slap the Bioshock name on it, and call it a day.
