On the good side, they have Bioware on the job and, at least as far as aesthetics are concerned, it seems to be paying off. The backgrounds look very clean, vibrant and minimalist, betraying the dark, more generically serious motifs which have gotten the series into trouble these past few years.
Of course, there’s still that whole Dark Brotherhood subtitle thing going on there which, by its lonesome, might dredge up bad memories of Shadow the Hedgehog or the infamous 360/PS3 Sonic game. Not that there’s much tangible cause to worry, but it’s become pretty knee-jerk with this series nowadays. It just doesn’t help that Bioware has a track record for making more serious-toned RPGs (Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect) either.
But hey, maybe we’ll benefit from the general western experience with the series and wind up with something more like the halfway-decent Saturday morning cartoon that used to be on ABC.
