A beautiful scene from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

I love Tales of games. In fact, I’m still secretly hoping that the GBA title Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 will somehow get a North American release. So of course I am pleased to announce that a new press release from Namco Bandai states that 2008 will mark the arrival of two new titles in the series, Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Vesperia will be appearing on the Xbox 360 and the Symphonia sequel will be on the Wii. Both titles do not have a definite release date, but the press release states they will be released in 2008 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Tales of series.

Tales of Vesperia is the first entry in the series on the Xbox 360 and features a whole new Tales of cast and story. Players follow the adventures of Yuri, a former knight, who is trying to discover what the ancient blastia technology is being used for. He and his friends must determine if forces are trying to use it to control their world or destroy everyone and stop the missuse of the ancient technology. It will feature weapons with exclusive specials, finishing blows, missions requiring you to engage in specific battles and the ability to create new items with collected materials.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is the sequel to the Gamecube game Tales of Symphonia and features a new adventure with both new and familiar characters. The new characters Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi are trying to discover why the world is falling apart, and will do so with the help of returning characters from the original game. New to this sequel is the ability to capture and raise monsters, an elemental alignment system and more control over who is in your party and what kinds of skills and abilities they will possess.
