call of duty 4 online updatesWhile Call of Duty 4’s online component has already proven itself to have legs that far extended its short four-hour single-player game, but last year’s (2007) biggest hit still wasn’t perfect. Gamers had been complaining since the November release about a few pressing issues that had affected online play. Thankfully, Infinity Ward has addressed a number of these issues with its latest, free automatic update for COD4.

Two major issues that had been topic of many gamers’ complaints were the Host migration and the inherited weakness behind snipers. Prior to this most recent update, if a host had quit or was suddenly dropped during the game, all players would also be kicked from their matches. Part of this new update address this problem by automatically pausing the game when a host quits or is dropped from a game, then quickly reassigns a new host, allowing the game to continue.

For you sniper nuts out there, many sniper-class players had been voicing their opinion that they felt their sniper rifles weren’t as accurate as they should have been. Infinity Ward, determined to solve this problem underwent painstaking testing and found out that gamers were indeed experiencing major set backs during game play, that even well-aimed shots were missing. With some minor programming adjustments, Infinity Ward now promise that snipers will be more deadly then they had been prior to this latest update to COD4.

Additional updates are more on the fun side, namely the new kill cam, which has been added to online play. This new camera will allow players to watch from a bird-eye-view as the bomb that had their name written all over it, was deployed by a passing jet and descended down to earth, where it landed right on top of player.

Another camera change has been made for all your spectators too afraid to jump into the fray, but prefer to stand on the sidelines and watch the action unfold. This new camera will allow players to switch back and forth between a third and first-person perspective. And if gamers want to act out their Matrix fantasies, you can also rotate this new camera around a player or the entire battlefield in the third-person view.

To get these new updates, all gamers have to do is pop their copy of Call of Duty 4 into their Xbox 360, and the downloads will begin for free, and the fragging may continue with a fewer hip-cups

  1. Cod4 online is alot better on pc than 360. I tried the beta on 360 when it first came out and you just can't beat mouse+KB for fps.

  2. I've never actually played a fps on the PC. Never had a machine that could handle one. In general though, I've always been a console guy.
