New Sims 3 home sweet home

It is March 19, 2008, and that means that it is opening day for The Sims 3 official site. Fans no longer have to content themselves with starring at the Sims 3 logo, as the floodgates have opened and plenty of information is now available about the latest title in the simulation series. The website must be getting a lot of traffic, because I found I needed to reload multiple times to view some pages. A release date is not among the information given.

So there are basically three main updates being highlighted in The Sims 3. The biggest change, which always gets top billing, is that neighborhoods are now wide open. You don’t need to call a cab to get somewhere or get a loading screen when you go to visit someone, as everything is all within the same domain. The sims themselves get a huge update, as new design tools are being used to create them and every aspect of their appearance and personality can be altered to make them unique individuals. The final update is the customization within the game. It looks like every single object has multiple color and design options and has color schemes which can match it to other household furniture.

I was a little disappointed in the “Create a Sim” and “Create a Home” sections. I thought there would be a little mini tool to allow you to create a Sims 3 sim in “Create a Sim,” but alas there is not. Instead the two sections possess images of potential sims and homes and discuss how the player will be able to customize everything.

There is also a “Sign-Up” section where you can join the official newsletter and know when the site is updated and new information is released. Of course I’m signing up, and if you’re a Sims fan I suggest you do as well.
