Rock Band downloadable content six times platinum

It looks like people really like their Rock Band – Harmonix is reporting that their smash hit music title has seen over six million songs downloaded since its launch last November. Via press release, the company is also announcing a new in-game store, which consolidates and streamlines all of Rock Band‘s downloadable content options, allowing players to preview and download songs right from the game.

The store also lets players look at song details (including difficulty ratings for each instrument) and sort songs by genre, artist, etc. All features are available through a free download via Xbox Live or the PlayStation network.

With numbers like these, its looking like Rock Band and Guitar Hero have potential to revitalize the ailing music industry.
