Rock Band to be released June 22, 2008

Rock Band has got 1.5 million PS3, Xbox 360 and PS2 owners off their seats and forced them to shed all their shyness. Very soon, Wii gamers can also join in the fun as the Wii version of Rock Band is scheduled for a June 22, 2008, release.

The game’s developer, Harmonix, announced in a press release that Rock Band will first appear on the Wii on June 22, 2008, as a Special Edition bundle. The bundle will carry a price tag of $169.99 and include the game software, microphone, drums and a wireless guitar. Standalone instruments will be available from the very first day the game becomes available so you can build your own band and rock together.

Gamers will have plenty of hit songs to perfect as the game will come with 63 songs including 5 bonus tracks. However, it is still not known whether the bonus tracks will be Wii-exclusives. Harmonix revealed a lot more info about the game while answering Joystiq’s questions. Unfortunately the game will not feature any online functionality like online gameplay or even downloadable content (DLC) for that matter. The game’s developer has confirmed support for Dolby Pro Logic II and 480p. The game, by the look of it, will be very similar to the PS2 version of Rock Band if not identical.
