So my latest cross stitch also happens to be my smallest – it is a mudkip from the Pokemon games. To give an idea of the scale of it, I placed a pumpkin seed next to it. I also have to say that, while this cross stitch still had a substantial amount of color, it was the easiest to finish. I’d definitely recommend Pokemon sprites to beginning cross stitchers.
I wanted to do something small since I was working partially on a The World Ends with You cross stitch. I came across the Pokemon Elite 2000 Sprite Source and decided to go with a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon mudkip sprite. It made a simple and clear pattern with an easy color scheme. Only two shades of blue, orange, white and black embroidery floss were needed to create the mudkip.
I have a bigger project prepared for next week, which I’ve actually already started on. It’s a cross stitch of Nils and Ninian from the first GBA Fire Emblem game. Since mudkip was so easy to do (he only took about an hour to make), I started working on next week’s a bit early.
