This makes Wendy Oldbag very happy.

The most recent issue of the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu has leaked Capcom’s “Gyakuten Not Saiban” project a little early: a new Ace Attorney spin-off called Gyakuten Renji, meaning “Turnabout Prosecutor,” starring Miles Edgeworth, the iconic and all-too-frilly rival of series hero Phoenix Wright.

The game will sport a different from the previous mainline AAs where you’ll actually get to see your character in action leading most who have seen the scans believe that it may play more like a western-style adventure game.

The term “Gyakuten Not Saiban” would imply, when translated into English, that it uses the “turnabout” principle of the Ace Attorney franchise without involving the courtroom proceedings that the series is famed for. However, among these Famitsu scans lies at least one screenshot of Edgeworth in court, so it may just be referring to the prospect that the game doesn’t follow the same premise as the main entries.

The light's kinda in its way, but...

Of course the title raises some questions of its own, like when the game will take place. The term “perfect” may indicate the game is a prequel to the Phoenix Wright saga, taking place when Edgeworth had a 100% conviction rate.

There’s not much else to go by right now, but AA fansite Court Records reports that Ace Attorney producer Minae Matsukawa will reveal more on the game in two weeks, on April 20th and that the new Edgeworth game won’t be the only thing on the agenda either.
