A recent press release from Square Enix confirms a rumor that had been floating around suggesting a July release date for the Final Fantasy IV DS remake. Gamertell reported on April 8, 2008 about both RPGFan and Gamefaqs suggesting a July 2008 release date. The ESRB has rated it E10+ and, once available, the game will cost $39.99.
The DS version of Final Fantasy IV is the fourth incarnation of the game. Ports of the title previously appeared on the Playstation, Wonderswan Color and Game Boy Advance. The DS version has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, and so it should provide an entirely new experience for fans. Gamertell previously offered a preview of the Japanese version of the game when it was released in December 2007.
So let’s see – Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, The World Ends with You, Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and Final Fantasy IV. Looks like it’s going to be a good year for Square Enix.
