Fire Emblem cross stitch featuring Nils and Ninian

Nils and Ninian cross stitch
I really love the Fire Emblem games. The first GBA one Fire Emblem (which is actually the seventh game in the series) was my first and it really kicked my butt. To this day I still haven’t beaten it. Despite that, I still love the game because it got me interested in the series. I also really liked the siblings Nils and Ninian as characters. They’re pretty useful. I found some great sprites of them at Sprite Database and decided I wanted to do a slightly larger cross stitch than normal with the two of them. Aside from some color difficulties (why did there have to be so many shades of blue), and an accidental miscounting on Ninian’s scarf that had to be repaired, I think it came out really well.

Nils and Ninian took a long time, simply due to shading issues. There are two shades of blue in their hair, an additional two shades in Ninian’s dress and scarf, three different shades of white in her dress and scarf, three shades of green in Nils’ cape, two shades of green in his outfit, and two shades of yellow in his flute and boots. Also, of course, black and peach floss were used. In all, that adds up to sixteen different thread colors, many of them. It was a bit of a nightmare, especially since sometimes the embroidery floss would get jumbled together and I’d have to compare the colors’ numbers to determine which was supposed to go where. It took me over five hours to complete the siblings, so this Fire Emblem cross stitch has earned the “most time consume” title.

Next week The World Ends with You comes out, so there’ll be a special The World Ends with You cross stitch up. Regrettably, it isn’t of one of the main characters, but I am hoping to eventually make a Neku, Shiki, or perhaps a Neku and Shiki cross stitch somewhere down the line.
