Hideo Baba, the Tales of brand manager, released an exclusive statement to Cubed³ that Bandai Namco will likely not be releasing Tales of Innocence for the Nintendo DS outside of Japan. Tales of Innocence was released in December, 2007 in Japan and was the ninth Tales of title. It featured 3D graphics, a battle system similar to Tales of Destiny and Tales of the Abyss, and a guild system for acquiring missions like the one in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology.
Tales of Innocence stars Ruca and his friends Iria, Spada, Ricardo, Hermana and Ange and they face off against the Arka religious group who is after Iria. Iria isn’t the only wanted member of the party though, as even Ruca is at risk due to a special power he has that the country of Regnum wants. The game was very well received in Japan – Nintendic reports that Famitsu gave it 35/40.
Hopefully Nintendo or Ubisoft will step in. Ubisoft previously stepped in to bring Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology to Europe and the PSP version of Tales of Eternia to Europe and Australia. Also Nintendo took it upon themselves to bring the GBA version of Tales of Phantasia to the United States, Europe and Australia. Far too often, fans of the Tales of series are neglected when it comes to games. Or, if you’re patient, wait and hope that Play-Asia eventually discounts Tales of Innocence.
