DOFUS logo The MMORPG (massive multiplayer online rpg) DOFUS is going to be heading to cell phones as DOFUSPocket. The game will be officially released on cell phones in June, 2008, but beta testing is going on at the moment. Rather than functioning as an actual game, it will instead be a supplement to the online game.

The thing is, a lot of information is still unavailable. The official press release talks about “different features” that will gradually be available to users, but doesn’t really add many specifics. Some possibilities for DOFUSPocket mentioned include the ability to check on information concerning characters, “user to user” interaction, in-game event notifications and perhaps even videos or the implementation of using 2D barcodes to affect gameplay.

I actually have bad memories of DOFUS. After I finally got cable internet, I decided to give a free MMO a try to see what the big deal is. I decided to try DOFUS because it was a quick download and looked really funny.

I was met by legions of punks who decided the best way to get along was to insult everyone and slaughter the English language. The worst part were battles – you could leave it open so others could come in and join your battle to help fight. However some punks would decide to gang up on and destroy newer players for the experience points. It was like playing an MMO with some of the more immature Xbox Live members.
